Gloucester city centre visitors will soon be able to “spend a penny” in one of the brand new £100,000 attended public toilets set to be built in the area, a news report in the local media has recently revealed.
Empty retail units in the city’s central area are already being evaluated as potential new homes for the public conveniences, although quite a few residents are asking for them to be located in roughly the same area as the old ones, that were demolished a while ago.
Councillor Jeremy Hilton, leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Gloucester City Council, won the support of enough fellow city councillors to push through the plan last week.
Visitors in need to use the public toilets will have to pay 20p a go, the funds obtained in this way being used to cover the maintenance and operations costs (including the presence of a full-time attendant).
Without a doubt, installing access restriction solutions and charging a fee for access is the most sensible solution when it comes to public toilets’ funding, and this is exactly where Toilet Turnstiles could really puts its experience to good work.
Our toilet turnstiles are built from graded stainless steel, for easier cleaning and maintenance, and also come equipped with lockable lids to prevent unwanted access. Furthermore, the separate coin box offers very versatile mounting options, as it can be installed either in front of the turnstile, at the side or alternatively, on the wall, with the cash box at the rear.
The turnstile’s coin mechanism can be programmed for virtually any combination of coins with a secure cash box to hold them, while the additional counters for the number of entries made will enable a thorough level of control over the system’s operation.
