A local authority is considering replacing three public doors with some stronger access control restrictions following acts of repeated vandalism, a news report in the local media was able to reveal.
However, Langport Town Councillors are worried about the costs associated to such an undertaking, given the fact that work to replace three toilet doors on the public conveniences in Langport could cost £13,500.
Town clerk Robin Williams said the council has already paid out substantial sums to repair to doors.“There is an option to replace the doors with steel ones to prevent them being damaged so easily in the future. But the fact that the new doors would be made of stainless steel makes them more expensive to buy.”
He said the total cost of further improvements to the toilets could end up costing around £30,000.
The steel doors would also have a coin-slot feature, which would allow the council to introduce a charge for the conveniences.
Installing a solid access restriction system is certainly something local authorities should consider, especially when faced with vandalism, and that’s exactly where Toilet Turnstiles could really puts its experience to good work.
Our toilet turnstiles are built from graded stainless steel, for easier cleaning and maintenance, and also come equipped with lockable lids to prevent unwanted access. Furthermore, the separate coin box offers very versatile mounting options, as it can be installed either in front of the turnstile, at the side or alternatively, on the wall, with the cash box at the rear.
The turnstile’s coin mechanism can be programmed for virtually any combination of coins with a secure cash box to hold them, while the additional counters for the number of entries made will enable a thorough level of control over the system’s operation.
