Cotswolds public toilets get raided for cash

Payment machines within the public toilets in Bourton and Moreton, in the Cotswolds, were targeted by raiders over the weekend, the perpetrators forcing open some of the cash boxes.

According to a news report in the local media, three payment machines at the toilets on the High Street in Moreton were forced open, with a total of more than £60 being stolen. Two more machines were attacked, raiders were not able to gain entry to them.

Local councillor speaks against Bath public toilets

A local councillor from Bath has decided to go against her community by saying that the public toilets they are trying to save should be closed, due to the very large number of problems they bring on.

According to a report in the local media, councillor Sarah Bevan describes the toilets as a source of distress, given their overall abused state. This comes despite the fact that campaigners have been fighting to keep the public toilets open for residents.

Public toilets in Ripley, Derbyshire, set to be re-opened

It seems that, while more and more cash-strapped borough councils close their public toilets in order to save money for other services, numerous town councils decide to step in and do what’s best for their citizens, be re-opening the aforementioned facilities.

That was also the case in Ripley, Derbyshire, where the toilets, set in the town’s market place, have been reinstated by the town council after the borough council closed all public toilets across the region.

Isle of Wight Council vows to re-open “as many public toilets as it can”

With budget cuts affecting public toilet operation across the width and breadth of UK, seeing a local council that actually strives to do its best in order to keep these public conveniences running is a quite a welcome exception.

That’s now the case with the new independent-led Isle of Wight Council, who will apparently look at re-opening both toilets and Tourist Information Centres, closed under the previous, Conservative-led council.
