Wainfleet public toilets closed following theft of bathroom furniture

All the public toilets in Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, had to be closed following a spate of thefts that saw all the sinks from the facility being stripped by scrap metal thieves, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.

East Lindsey District Council has been forced to close the toilets on Brooks Walk in Wainfleet until they can replace the four wash basins which have been stolen.

Council spokesman, James Gilbert, said the toilets will remain closed to the public until the sinks can be replaced.

In the 2015-2016 financial year, Weston Town Council spent £70,464 on the public toilets – £23,329 on maintenance and repairs, £30,338 on cleaning and £16,797 on staff.
