New unisex public toilets are set to open in Wokingham town centre as part of a regeneration programme, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.
The loos are in the new Peach Place and form part of ongoing work at the site. The cubicles will be unisex, with one of them being wheelchair friendly. A baby change table will also be added to the loos, which are open to the public from 7am to 4pm.
Wokingham Borough Council bosses say they are responding to a ‘need for the town’ to have toilets in the town centre.
Councillor Charlotte Haitham Taylor, the council’s regeneration boss, said: “We’ve talked a lot to people about the regeneration over the years, and a desire for public toilets in the town has been a recurring theme.
“These new toilets are a great new facility for visitors to Wokingham town centre.
“As with the water bottle fountain, which we installed last week, we’ve been able to fund these new facilities as part of the regeneration works with income from the development funding their ongoing maintenance so they can remain free to use.”
